The stove is very well designed and built. I would not use it as a primary camp-stove however, as it is useless in the rain. It would be a good stove for an additional camper to take on a group trip, particularly for the charging feature.
It's way too heavy for backpacking, but it does make sense boondocking or car camping or as part of a bugout/survival kit. On our last camping trip (via canoe), was glad to have it along as I did in fact run out of propane on the next to last day, and was able to make rice and coffee and a few other things with it. You can get a nice simmer, or at full blast boil water in no time - my standard cook kit worked fine. It may charge your phone a little, but if that is a real concern I'd rather have a little 12W solar panel in most situations. The included night light was more useful.
Charging the battery with the fire wasn't as fast as I expected or wanted but it did recharge the battery from almost dead to full with a few small fires on low fan speed. Overall I would recommend this product, even with it's weight for backpackers who wild camp or anyone who camps or "glamps", my next purchase my be the fire pit they make as some places in California are now not allowing open fires.
